This write-up is for every auto parts seller looking to increase their product visibility online. It will let you learn how to submit fitment data to Amazon, the e-commerce website enjoying maximum popularity at the moment.

Fitment data, which is also often referred to as ACES (Aftermarket Catalog Exchange Standard) information, gives people access to crucial information about the vehicle parts you sell. When you submit the info to Amazon in the right manner, you will see your product ranking increase and sales improve significantly. Keep reading to learn more.

Things You’ll Need to Submit Fitment Data to Amazon

Amazon tends to favor fitment data provided by manufacturers/brand owners or third-party vendors authorized by manufacturers/brand owners. In other words, not every vendor can supply fitment data directly to the platform.

There’s a dedicated team representing Amazon that decides whether the vendor is eligible to supply fitment data. The good news is that we at PCFitment share a great bond with Amazon thanks to the accurate fitment data we provide for auto parts.

Other than having the right source of fitment data, you’ll need certain tools to submit the info to Amazon. You’ll also need to follow certain procedures to complete the submission perfectly.

  • Your main Amazon account will not be enough. You will also need to create an account on Amazon Seller Central. All you’ll need to do to create the account is visit Amazon Seller Central, click “Sign up”, and follow the subsequent instructions.
  • Being a member of the AutoCare Association is mandatory as without it you will not be able to obtain the brandcode or brand ID. FYI, the brand code is a unique code that guarantees that your customers are getting accurate and authentic items. In other words, it’s the transparency protection Amazon provides all its customers with.
  • Last but not least you will need a fitment data automation tool like the one PCFitment offers. The tool will let you submit data much faster without committing a single mistake.

Manual Submission of Fitment Data to Amazon

Manual submission of fitment data, which used to be the norm earlier, requires extreme patience from the people involved in the job. The process also demands a significant amount of time and effort. The primary reason behind these requirements is the need for precision.

There will be no use of fitment data if you fail to ensure reliability and accuracy. If you commit a mistake when submitting fitment information, the error can result in compatibility issues. This will automatically increase return rates and leave many of your customers dissatisfied. These are the same problems you faced when listing your products without fitment data.

Mistakes can occur at various stages of fitment data submission. However, the phase that increases the possibility of error is that of data consolidation and integration. As fitment data is obtained from multiple sources including third-party databases, suppliers, and manufacturers, data consolidation and integration require a lot of attention and effort. The chances of error grow even further as people doing the job need to deal with diverse standards and formats as data is derived from different sources.

Another factor that makes manual submission of fitment data difficult for businesses is the constant changes experienced by the automotive industry. At times, within the span of a few months, the industry witnesses hundreds of changes in specifications, compatibility requirements, and product designs. The only way you can keep up with these rapid changes and update fitment data quickly is by embracing automation.

Getting Ready to Submit Fitment Data to Amazon and Start Selling

The preparation before submitting fitment data to Amazon must involve a few steps. These include the following:

Step 1: Creating Brand ID

We have already discussed the importance of having a unique brand code or brand ID in the above section. To get your brand ID, you will first need to create a new account on www.autocare.org. Every new user needs to wait for 24 hours for their login info to be registered.

With your login info registered, visit this link and enter the username & password to login and register your brand. Having the brand registered is mandatory to apply for your unique brand ID. You will get the unique ID emailed to you as soon as your application is approved.

The brand ID you receive can now be used for logging into autocare.org.

Step 2: Category Selection on Amazon

To make your listing attractive for potential buyers, you must ensure that it is backed by optimized content, striking photos, eye-catching product labeling, informative and competitive reviews, and so on. Additionally, picking the right product category is also extremely crucial.

Always, select “Automotive” as the primary product category. You will have the option of picking suitable sub-categories for further categorizing your products. If you don’t list your products under “Automotive”, viewers will not be able to see fitment data submitted by you on Automotive Part Finder.

Step 3: Enabling Amazon and PCFitment Mapping

Your brand ID and the manufacturer’s Part No. on Amazon must match to let the fitment data submitted sync with your listings.

Every vehicle-specific auto part available on Amazon.com has ACES data. Other than that, each of these products (when sold on Amazon) will have a unique identifier termed ASIN or Amazon Standard Item Number. Amazon automatically matches the ASINs with ACES records based on their normalized part number and brand name. The only thing you’ll need to do is add your AAIA brand code to your Amazon seller’s account before submitting fitment data to the platform.

How Does PCFitment Help?

With PCfitment, you will never need to struggle to submit ACES or fitment data to Amazon promptly and flawlessly. We make the most difficult steps of the data submission process seamless through automation. Here are the steps:

  1. You must click on the “Submit to Amazon” tab on PCFitment Homepage.
  2. Next, you will need to fill out a form with the necessary info. Make sure you fill every blank marked with a red star. Try to fill in other blanks too as those bits of information, though not mandatory, will be helpful to Amazon. Finish filling in the form by clicking on “Submit to Amazon”.

One of the biggest benefits of using PCFitment is that the moment you finish uploading your auto parts on Amazon, your fitment data will get validated with the latest AutoCare database. You are now free to use the data elsewhere via Excel or XML. All you’ll need to do is click the “Request for Excel” or “Request for XML” button at the bottom of the page.

The other great thing about our services is that when you use our program for fitment data submission, you’ll not need to worry about data accuracy. We also ensure that every piece of information we submit is up to date.

How Long Will You Need to Wait for Your Fitment Data to Be Submitted?

Are you wondering why the process of data submission is taking so much time? Don’t worry. Once you click on “Submit”, you are initiating a crucial process. A lot of things are happening in the background to ensure that every piece of data is getting submitted flawlessly to your Amazon account.

Depending on the quality of the data you have submitted, you may need to wait anywhere between 24 hours and two weeks for the process of data validation to complete.

However, once you finish the initial submission, PCFitment will send you an email featuring a data processing number and a detailed process report. As you wait for data validation, you can contact Amazon to know the status of your submission using the data processing number. Once your fitment data is published, you will find vehicles where your auto parts fit perfectly by visiting Amazon’s Parts Finder.
